Donuts with Buttercream


  • 500 gram FunCakes Mix for Donuts
  • 200 gram FunCakes Mix for Buttercream
  • FunCakes Edible FunColours Gel – Yellow
  • FunCakes Edible FunColours Gel – Bright Green
  • FunCakes Edible FunColours Gel – Pink
  • FunCakes Edible FunColours Gel – Purple
  • 415 ml of water + 8 tea spoons
  • 65 ml (55 gram) of vegetable oil
  • 240 gram of soft unsalted butter
  • Fine granulated sugar
  • Melted butter (only for oven preparation)
  • Chopped nuts and cranberries
  • Wilton 6-Cavity Donut Pan (for oven preparation only)
  • Wilton Scoop-it Measuring Spoons
  • Round cutters 6/7 cm and 1 cm
  • Frying pan with vegetable oil (only for frying preparation)

Process the ingredients at room temperature. Knead 500 gram of mix, 215 ml of water and 65 ml (55 gram) vegetable oil with a mixer with dough hook for 5 minutes. Roll out the dough to a thickness of approx. 5 mm. Cut out the donuts using the round cutters and let them rest for 25 minutes under a clean towel.

Frying: Preheat the deep fryer to 180°C. Bake the donuts in approx. 90 sec. per side until golden yellow and dip them in the fine granulated sugar.
Oven: Preheat the oven to 200°C (convection oven to 180°C). Put the donuts in a donut form and bake them for about 12 minutes. Straight out of the oven brush them with melted butter en dip them in the fine granulated sugar.

Prepare 200 gram of Mix for Buttercream as indicated on the package or in this basic recipe. Divide the buttercream into 4 portions and colour them with the FunColours gels. Cover the donuts with the coloured buttercream and decorate with the chopped nuts and cranberries.
