Cute little spooky cake

Materials:

  • 400 gram FunCakes mix for Choco Sponge Cake
  • 5 eggs (approx. 250 gram)
  • 90 ml water
  • Round baking pan of 25cm in dia and 7,5cm deep
  • Baking spray
  • Cooling grid
  • Cake leveller
  • 400 gram FunCakes mix for Buttercream
  • 400 ml water
  • 500 gram unsalted butter
  • FunCakes flavour whipped cream
  • FunCakes Edible FunColours Gel – Purple
  • FunCakes Edible FunColours Gel – Leaf Green
  • FunCakes Edible FunColours Gel – Orange
  • Disposable decorating bags
  • Wilton tip 12 (3x)
  • Edible decoration eyes e.g. Wilton

Preparation:
Add 400 ml of water to 400 grams of the mix for buttercream and beat with a whisk. Then let the mixture rest at room temperature for at least 1 hour.

Preheat the oven to 180°C (convection oven 160°C). Ingredients need to be at room temperature. Put the mix, eggs and water in a bowl. Mix at high speed for 7-8 minutes. Then mix at low speed for another 2-3 minutes. Pour the batter into a greased baking pan (1/2 to 2/3 full) and bake the cake in approx. 35-40 minutes. Don’t open the door during baking! The cake is ready when it feels springy to the touch. Release the cake immediately after baking and let it cool down on a cake grid.

Beat 500 grams of unsalted butter for approx. 5 minutes until creamy. Add a part of the mixture to the butter and beat until the mixture has been completely absorbed before adding the next part. Add the whipped cream flavour and beat to a smooth buttercream (approx. 10 minutes). Divide the cream into three portions and colour each portion with a different colour.

Place the tips in the decorating bags and fill each bag with a different colour. Cut the cake three times with the cake leveller. Fill the bottom layer with the purple cream, pipe dots on the outside and fill the rest with a spiral of cream. Place the second layer on top and fill this with the orange cream. And then place the third layer on top, pipe dots on the outside and fill the rest with a spiral of green cream. At last place the fourth layer on top.

Pipe on top of the cakes some different kinds of dots (high and low). Press in the dots some decoration eyes. Place the cake until serving in the fridge.
