Birthday Splash cake

  • 250 gram FunCakes Mix for Sponge Cake
  • 150 gram of FunCakes Mix for Enchanted Cream®
  • FunCakes Flavour Paste – White chocolate
  • FunCakes Deco Melts in multiple colours
  • 25 ml of water
  • 4 eggs
  • 200 ml of milk
  • FunCakes Bake Release Spray
  • Wilton spatula
  • Wilton cake leveler
  • Wilton cooling grid
  • Wilton parchment paper (width 15 cm)
  • Extra deep round baking pan Ø 15 cm x 10 cm, for example from PME
  • Side scraper
  • Multiple microwave safe bowls
  • Cling film
  • Piece of cardboard or newspaper

Preheat the oven to 180°C (convection oven 160°C) and grease the baking pan with Bake Release Spray. Place a 15 cm high baking paper stroke along the edge of the baking pan and spray again with baking spray. Prepare the Mix for Sponge Cake as indicated on the package or in this basic recipe, add the batter to the baking pan and bake the sponge cake for 30-35 minutes. Because of the height of the sponge cake you may have to bake it for another 5 minutes, this depends on your oven! After baking, release the sponge cake on a cooling grid and let it cool down completely.

Prepare the Mix for Enchanted Cream® as indicated on the package or in this basic recipe and add to taste the white chocolate flavour paste. Depending on the height of your sponge cake, cut the cake either two or three times. Add some Enchanted Cream® between the layers and cover the cake with a thick layer of Enchanted Cream® so you don’t see the sponge cake anymore. Use the side scraper to do so. Place the cake in the refrigerator for an hour to get cold.

Meanwhile, cover your counter with plastic foil and put a piece of cardboard upright behind it.
Melt each color of Deco Melts separately in a microwave safe dish at max 450W with occasional stirring. When it is almost melted, remove it from the microwave and stir the visible pieces into in the warm melts. Put the cake on the counter and splash the Deco Melts from a distance against the cake with a spatula.
